Well been posting up pics in my blog and rushing my SCHOOLwork..feeling drained with my sickness! its bad to be sick when travelling! cant do many things, cant eat many things. Worst of all the rest of them is sort of pulled back for/by you and cant do things or rather EAT as freely as they want to..sorry guys and girls!
But its been like a mad rush for me..hmm.Didnt really have time to blog out my thoughts. So here goes:
Firstly, i must say that i look like i dress up in the same clothes everyday..cos of the sweater!tell me its summer..but actually its late spring..and feeling vvv airconditioning out there..sometimes there will be hot sun and cold wind blowing..so somehow confused on whether we are hot or cold. but its COLD. luckily i miuh tin told me on the day before departure that its cold! should have checked the temperature earlier and not take for granted that its summer! how stupid me!
Well, after I reached berkeley..Somehow i felt so inadequate. Felt that the world is so big. So many ppl to meet, so many ppl to know, so many places to go. Somehow felt that my general knowledge is so limited. Not only that, in studies wise..somehow the younger ppl(ie the undergraduates ) are so much wiser, worldlier. I've so much to catch up.
Been taking 2 modules in HAAS, business school in University of california, berkeley. I heard its hard to get in..and many ppl want to.
The atmosphere is sooo different from NTU, NBS. Now i ssee why singapore system is going to change to a American-based style of teaching (seminar style). Classes were engaging and interactive. Maybe its the students that made that possible. For one of the classes, people will just be putting up their hands to answer qns. The prof still have the chance to pick the students to answer qns or ignore the hands raised! There were HAAS students and intl students..But they are all so proactive too~ But tutors are engaging too~ tho not all tutors during this summer session(special sem session) are berkeley profs!
Furthermore, students bring their laptops to lesssons! How cool! Maybe i will try to bring mine to class next week. otherwise, no more chance to do so in future! hehe..They bring laptops to edit the notes on the spot or even surf straight away on concepts they werent sure of or when the tutor were talking about websites,chatting..etc..But the students here are also more practical? rather than focus on theory..which is in a way good~The students know the stock market well..think a lot of them buy shares too..and not all who buy shares are biz major in the first place..so talk about those in biz..
Been like having classes from mon-thurs and its a 1 whole afternoon gone thing..before lessons eat, after lessons eat..by the time the day ends..it'll be around like 8,9 pm..and the cycle goes..tiring..cos its like taking 2 core nbs modules in a crash course format. But in a way satisfied..cos i know i m making full use of the money spent in these 2 courses..wahah..say im crazy..but its nice to stretch urself a bit to know ur limits and to mould your own character and endurance. tt's what going overseas should do to you!=P
Rediscovering myself here..that's what i like about going overseas. Everytime you learn more about yourself, learn more about the world and not be confined to the island of Singapore and be so narrow minded about things and lastly to humble the mini me in this vast world.
